Key Findings for December 2023
December’s top values are fairly steady: Trust slips 2 positions to 5th as Peace and Financial stability move up one each, and Growth replaces Respect in the top 10, but the rest hold their positions, suggesting a “no surprises” month where people doubled down on core priorities rather than experimenting. Coverage is high too: Health shows up in 48.8% of tests, with Family (38.9%), Peace (38.2%), and Financial stability (37.8%) bunched tightly together—more like a packed leaderboard than a runaway race.
With so few position changes among the top 10, the real story is the shape of demand: a strong cluster of well-being and stability values dominates. Even the “softer” motivators hold real weight: Love (32.8%) and Pleasure (31.3%) remain mainstream, while Freedom (29.8%) and Growth (29.0%) signal people still want agency and progress, just not at the expense of feeling safe.
Seasonally, this looks like classic end-of-year psychology: colder weather, family gatherings, and year-end finances push priorities toward health, home, calm, and security—less “new me,” more “keep it together and enjoy it.”
