Key Findings for 2022
In 2022, participation cooled: 179,271 tests, down 20.0% vs 2021. Yet the “values soundtrack” stayed remarkably consistent. The entire top 10 kept the same number of positions, suggesting people weren’t redefining what matters; they were doubling down on familiar anchors.
Momentum favored stability and calm. Peace rose +3.3% and Financial stability climbed +3.7%, the biggest gains in the top 10, while Security (+2.2%) and Love (+2.0%) also strengthened. Even already-dominant Health and Family edged up (+1.2% each), reinforcing that personal wellbeing and close relationships remained the core “non‑negotiables.”
A small mood shift shows up in the soft dips: Freedom slipped -2.0% and Pleasure was basically flat at -0.3%. With no values moving positions, the change is less about new priorities and more about intensity: people leaned slightly more toward safety, predictability, and inner quiet than toward autonomy or fun.
Compared with recent years, the pattern looks like continued consolidation rather than experimentation: the same leaders, modest swings, and more appetite for reassurance than risk.
Outlook: if uncertainty lingers, Financial stability, Peace, and Security likely keep creeping upward; if conditions ease, expect Freedom and Pleasure to rebound without dethroning Health and Family.
